OUR VARIETIES
Vignoles
› 1.34 Acres
› Planted in 1982
A French-American hybrid that is planted redominately east of the Rockies.
A thin-skinned, tight clustered variety that is easily infected with botrytis or grey mold. This disease can be devastating in some varieties, especially reds, but in vignoles, which we make into a late harvest, ‘noble rot’ is exactly what we’re after. This disease cracks the grape skins concentrating the sugar, making a luscious dessert wine.
The grape is fairly easy in the vineyard other than botrytis which can’t come too early because flavors won’t be as developed, so we have to watch it because botrytis can explode some years. |
