OUR VARIETIES
Merlot
› 4.15 Acres
› Planted in 1982
Merlot is the most widely planted variety in the Bordeaux region of France and planted throughout the wine world. The variety is not widely grown in the Finger Lakes but we’ve had success with it for several years.
The reason for its limited planting in the area has to do with its lack of winter hardiness. To ensure a crop from season to season to we bury canes to protect them from the coldest periods.
We make a varietal merlot, blend it with our other Bordeaux varieties and make a rose. |
